Preparing To Set Up An Adsense Account

The most difficult part of getting started with AdSense is getting your website approved by Google. Indeed, for many, obtaining a $100,000 bank loan is easier than obtaining a free Google AdSense account. The trick is to be prepared prior to applying.

Set Up An Adsense Account

Until your application is approved, you cannot begin using Google AdSense on your pages. This means that you must make preparations for opening an account prior to applying for one. To begin, you must read Google's Terms of Service (TOS). If your site does not adhere to Google's guidelines, it will be denied.

Additionally, even after you are approved and begin running Google ads on your site, if you violate the TOS, you will be removed from the program and may be permanently banned.

You're looking for the Program policies, which are available at https://adsense.google.com. Scroll down to the page's bottom and click on Program Policies. To begin, it's worth noting that Google will not accept any website that is incomplete.

This means that you cannot have any 'under construction' pages. All pages must be complete, and all links must function properly.

Assemble all of your graphics properly, as even a broken graphic can prevent you from being approved.

Additionally, Google has a set of Quality Guidelines that must be followed in order for your application to be approved. These guidelines, in conjunction with the program policies, will detail what you are and are not permitted to have on your site, as well as what is expected of you and your site in terms of meeting the requirements for a Google AdSense account. These guidelines are available at https://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html.

One of the most common errors made by would-be AdSense publishers is failing to read the TOS, Program Policies, and guidelines. Google expresses these in very specific terms, leaving no doubt about the rules. Additionally, they take these rules very seriously.

Frequently, people skip this step in the preparation process – reading the rules – and work diligently to build a site, only to have it rejected by Google or to be approved but later removed from the program.

Allow this not to happen to you. These are rules that you must follow not only to obtain approval, but also to remain enrolled in the program. You do not want to spend days and weeks developing sites only to be kicked out later. Google takes this very seriously.

Once you've read and comprehended the rules, the next step in preparation is to conduct research to determine which topics will be the most profitable for you and to build the website. We will discuss these topics in greater detail in a subsequent article, but for now, all you need is a Google-approved website.

Bear in mind that you only need to be approved for one site to join the program; after that, you can publish as many sites as you want, on a wide variety of topics, and use Google AdSense on them, all from the same account.

While many simply put up a website that meets Google's standards without conducting any research, you could also take a little more time and build a site that targets the high-paying keywords. This is entirely up to you, and it doesn't really matter which direction you take as long as the site is approved for a Google AdSense account.
