Making Passive Income With Both Broad and Long Tail Keywords

Making Passive Income With Both Broad and Long Tail Keywords

When you select a niche and launch a website, you want to maximize your profit potential by utilizing all available channels. Keywords are an important player in the world of making money, but they are frequently overlooked.

Long Tail Keywords

Keywords are a simple concept. These are the keywords that identify your website and draw search engines' attention to it. Your batting average for customers and sales will be pretty low if you don't have the right keywords.

Many online entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs understand the importance of keywords in driving traffic, but they frequently overlook the fact that broad and long tail keywords can be used to generate revenue.

What distinguishes these from using any keywords? Broad keywords are words that do not narrow down the topic - think short, one-word phrases versus car versus buying a Honda Odyssey, or tree versus how to plant an Oak tree.

When you search for long tail keywords, you may notice that there are fewer results than for broad keywords. However, because there are more of these phrases, the actual traffic volume may exceed what you'd get from a broad search ranking.

You want people who know what they want. Someone who searches for cars may be looking for the animated cartoon cars, the history of cars, used cars, new cars, and other things.

When people use long tail phrases, they are telling you exactly what they want. For example, here's a good one: "How to Buy Cars Without Getting Ridden." You could sell someone a guide to buying a new car because you would know exactly what their needs are as opposed to someone simply typing in 'cars.'

If you were selling self-help products for depression, you could use depression as a broad keyword, but to get more specific, you'd use long tail keywords like 'postpartum depression symptoms' or 'signs of depression in men.'

By using broad keywords, you will not only attract people looking for general information on depression, but you will also attract people looking for depression as it relates to their situation.

When you conduct a search for broad keywords, you will notice that there are a large number of searches per month for that word or words. However, the more specific your keywords, the better your site will perform when search engine spiders crawl it. You want people who come to your website to be interested in what you have to offer.
